Consultation

30 Minute Session: Free

One Hour Session: $40

Two Hour Session: $80

Consultations will determine what kinds of services you would like me to provide. This includes discussing your process, where you are with your work, and the timeline of the project. All consultations include a sample edit of any works written and comprehensive notes. Consultations may be booked via email.

Sample Edit

A sample edit will allow both the author and I to assess each other's work. The sample should be no more than 10 pages worth of writing (12 pt double spaced). The author can add any notes to this sample in order for me to begin working on conceptualizing, editing, and proofreading the draft. A style guide will be sent in order for me to best assess the work. All samples will receive notes and options for next steps.

Note:

All sessions include meeting notes, editing notes, and any other materials needed for the author to refer to our discussions. The brainstorming and outlining sessions can be done together or in separate sessions.

Rate per hour: $75

Brainstorming

This is the beginning of your journey! Brainstorming sessions will allow you to bounce your ideas off of a neutral third party. This will be a one-on-one session that will allow the author to realize their vision for their novel, as well as establish a timeline for the production of the novel(s).

Outlining

Let's get started! Outlining is an essential part of the drafting process. These sessions will review the general outline of the work. The author can submit their outline draft prior to the meeting, and we will discuss the plotting, characters, setting, etc.

Manuscript Edit

The manuscript edit* will occur during the writing process. We will work together to discuss the pacing, plot, character development, world-building, believability, and other major critiques. These sessions can be scheduled based on the desired deadline of the author. This submission must be at least 30 pages long. After I finish reviewing the materials, we will discuss changes, critiques, and other necessities. In this round of editing, we will eliminate or add key features to the story to ensure smooth transitions, tying up loose ends, and consistancy.

*Manuscript Edit- editing the rough drafts of the author's works (these can be first, second, or final drafts).

Developmental Edit

This part of the process discusses the work as a whole. We will determine what works, what doesn't work, and any major changes that need to be worked through. This round of editing will ensure the substance of the work matches what the author is trying to convey. I will read through the manuscript, focusing on consistency, pacing, alertness, and any other notes on the writing style. The second read-through will focus on the story; I will keep an eye on plot consistency, take notes on the plot that were previously outlined, and offer suggestions on changes that need to be made.

Line Edit

Line editing is considered to be more about the style of writing. This round of editing will focus on smoothing out awkward sentences, focusing on the images and nuances of scenes, and discussing stylistic changes based on the author's desired end goal. In this edit, we will be refining the language, zooming in on all of the fine details, and finalizing the overall tone of the work.

Rate: $15 per 1,000 words

Note:

The copyedit and proofreading stages are billed as the same service.

Copyedit

We're almost there! This step takes a magnifying glass to the final rough draft of the manuscript. We will take a look at the grammar, syntax, perspective, clarity, punctuation, etc, of the author's writing style and make sure to keep the intended voice. This is one of the last steps, which means there should be no fundamental changes needed. This will also be the stage where we are wrapping everything into a pretty little bow before proofreading for minor mistakes.

Proofreading

We have made it to the final step. This will be the final read through before your book is published! This step goes hand-in-hand with the copyediting stage. I will read the final draft of the manuscript before it is officially ready for the printer. Any minor mistakes will be corrected and clarified until the final result is squeaky clean and ready for your readers!

Start To Finish

The start-to-finish timeline looks different depending on the word count, number of editing sessions, and launch date of the novel. Ideally, the final edit should be finished a week or two before it is sent to the publisher.

Sample Edit

As stated above, the sample edit is included in the consultation. This is meant for both the author and editor to become accustomed to each other's style and to begin to discuss what the story needs in order to begin the process. This is NOT required to begin the process but it is helpful to the writing process as a whole.

Writing Services

Ghostwriting

Ghostwriting can be requested for a project without a set due date or a project with a due date six or more months in advance. The project must have an estimated word count (any word count is acceptable).

Pricing starts at $200 per 1,000 words. *A deposit of $150 is required to book the project.

Resume Writing

Resume writing services can be booked at any time. Please provide a current resume sent as a PDF. I will update, rewrite, and redesign the resume depending on the requirements or style requested by the client.

Cover Letter

Cover letter services can be requested at any time. Please provide the position/company you are looking into, and book a call with me. The cover letter session will be like an interview. All cover letter sessions must be booked within 48 hours of request.

One Cover Letter: $125

Additional Cover Letters: $25

Resume and Cover Letter Bundle: $150

Policies

*All projects require a 20% nonrefundable deposit from the quoted price. This deposit goes towards the final price of the project.

*Payment of deposit is required within 7 days of the agreement. Final payment is due 7 days before the deadline OR upon receiving the final product. If the deposit is unpaid after 7 days, the agreement is canceled.

*Payment plans are available upon negotiation. The price of services rendered will be based on the initial word count of the project. If the project is still developing, quote prices will be calculated based on the goal word count. This price may change based on the final word count.

*All sample edits are free, however, singular short stories or poems are charged based on word count and services requested. If the short story or poem is a sample for a collection, the whole collection will be priced the same as all other projects.

*Samples must be between 1-10 pages. Any samples larger than 10 pages (ex. full chapters) will only be assessed up to 3,000 words. An editorial letter will be sent with edited sample.
